Managed vs. Unmanaged VPS

Unmanaged VPS Servers:

Unmanaged Servers are all your responsibility. We will only take care of the hardware, network and reboots that you may require. You may also be restricted to number of reboots per day or month. You are responsible for all the software that you may install or even if server gets infected or compromised. If you want to help with, then we will charge you the administration fees.

Unmanaged VPS hosting accounts are best suited for people who are very familiar with Linux and don’t need the help of a third-party for technical support and troubleshooting and for people who want to have a VPS with which they can test things out and learn the ropes.

Unmanaged VPS hosting accounts do not come with control panels installed. Unmanaged VPS hosting is less expensive than managed VPS hosting when you compare plans that have the same allocated resources.

Managed VPS hosting:

Managed VPS Servers are completely apposite of Unmanaged Servers. We will take care of everything you require on your server, from installation to configuration. We will also moniotor the server for you and will also login into the server incase the services gets crashed.

Managed VPS Servers are for people who like the flexibility that a VPS can give you vs. shared and reseller hosting, but benefit from the technical assistance that a managed hosting provider can provide. Note that you will pay more for a Managed VPS hosting account than you would for an Unmanaged VPS hosting account, but the extra dollars are well spent when you run into an error and your client’s website won’t load and you need help right away.

Summary:

An unmanaged VPS is not “plug-and-play” and it’s not as simple as logging in to a fancy control panel and clicking a few buttons to be up and running securely.  If you want to have the flexibility of a VPS, but without most of the technical headaches and occasional blips, do yourself a favor and get a managed VPS and not an unmanaged one.
